No appointment. Just walk in.Walk-In Tattoo in Toronto
Decided today's the day? You don't need an appointment. Here's how walk-in tattoos work in downtown Toronto, the best times to come, what to bring and what it costs — at a shop that's open late, 7 days a week.
Can you get a tattoo without an appointment in Toronto?
Yes. A walk-in tattoo means you come into the shop without booking ahead and get tattooed the same day, usually by whichever artist is free. It's perfect for small to medium pieces, flash designs, lettering, and simple custom work you've already thought through. Bigger projects — full sleeves, large back pieces, detailed cover-ups — are better booked so an artist can design and plan them, but plenty of great tattoos start as a walk-in.
At Yes Electric on Queen West, walk-ins are welcome every day, noon to midnight. Because we're a collective with artists across blackwork, fine line, realism, colour and lettering, there's usually someone available in the style you want.
How a walk-in tattoo actually works
The process is simple:
- Come in with your idea — a reference photo, a phrase, or a flash design you like.
- Chat with an available artist about size, placement and style. They'll tell you what's realistic same-day.
- Get a quote up front so there are no surprises.
- Drawing & stencil — the artist preps the design and places the stencil where you want it.
- Get tattooed, then we wrap it and walk you through aftercare.
Bring valid government photo ID — you must be 18+ to get tattooed in Ontario.
Best time to walk in (to skip the wait)
Walk-ins are first-come, and weekend evenings on Queen West get busy. For the shortest wait:
- Weekday afternoons are the quietest — come early in the day if you can.
- Evenings and weekends are lively but may mean a short wait for the right artist.
- We're open late every night, so an after-work or after-dinner walk-in is totally doable.
If you want a specific artist, it's worth a quick message to check their availability before you head over.
What to bring to a walk-in
- Photo ID proving you're 18+.
- Reference images — even a rough idea helps the artist nail what you want.
- An idea of placement and size — where on the body and roughly how big.
- Cash or card — we accept both. Tips are appreciated but never required.
- Eat a proper meal beforehand and stay hydrated — it genuinely makes the session easier.
How much does a walk-in tattoo cost?
Most shops, including ours, have a minimum charge for the smallest pieces (it covers setup, sterile supplies and the artist's time). From there, price depends on size, detail, placement and how long the piece takes. Small flash and lettering are the most affordable; colour, realism and larger custom work cost more because they take longer.
The honest answer is that every piece is different — so we always give you a clear quote before any needle touches skin. Want a ballpark first? See our full breakdown in the cost of a tattoo in Toronto guide.
