minutes away —Tattoo Shop near Liberty Village
Liberty Village is one of the city's youngest neighbourhoods — loft offices, condos and studios carved out of old Victorian factories. Yes Electric Tattoo isn't in the Village itself; we're a quick 504 King ride east at 499 Queen St W in Queen West, open noon to midnight, seven days a week, walk-ins welcome.
How to get here from Liberty Village
Liberty Village sits in a pocket bounded by King Street West to the north, Dufferin to the west, the Gardiner to the south and Strachan Avenue to the east — with no subway of its own, the neighbourhood leans on the 504 King streetcar and the 29 Dufferin bus, plus GO trains out of Exhibition Station at the south end. That works in your favour for reaching us: the 504 King runs straight past the top of the Village, so you can hop it eastbound, ride a few minutes toward the Spadina area and walk a couple of blocks up to Queen. All in, most people are at our door in fifteen to twenty minutes without ever getting in a car.
If you'd rather stay on one vehicle, the 63 Ossington or a walk up to Queen puts you on the 501 Queen streetcar, which runs right past 499 Queen St W. Driving or cycling, it's a short, familiar run along King or Queen West. Once you're here, everything is under one roof — tattoos, piercings, the barber chair and tooth gems — so a lunch break or an after-work stop is easy to pull off. If you'd rather lock in a time before you leave the Village, you can book or walk in in a couple of taps.
A creative-district crowd, an easy studio
Liberty Village grew up around design agencies, tech firms and media shops that moved into converted warehouses like the Toronto Carpet Factory on Mowat Avenue and the Liberty Market complex at Liberty and Hanna Avenue. Liberty Street itself — the neighbourhood's main east-west spine — takes its name from the ground newly released prisoners once stepped onto, a reminder that the whole district was rebuilt from something older. It's now a place full of people who care about how things look and are used to briefing creative work, which, honestly, is a great mindset to bring into a tattoo consult.
You don't need to arrive with everything figured out. Bring a rough idea, a folder of references, or nothing but a vibe, and our artists will help you shape it into something that actually suits the placement and holds up over time. If you're still deciding on a direction, our tattoo styles guide is a good place to start, and the gallery shows the range of work coming out of the shop. Prefer to meet the person first? Have a look at our artists before you come by.
Walk-in or planned — both work
Because we're open noon to midnight every day, Liberty Village folks tend to use us two ways:
- Spur-of-the-moment — a Friday-night walk-in after dinner, or a small piece squeezed in before a weekend GO trip out of Exhibition Station.
- Planned — booking a consult for a bigger tattoo, a fresh piercing curation, or a barber appointment lined up with a haircut you actually want to keep.
Either way, the late hours mean you're not racing a 6pm closing time after work. Walk-ins are always welcome; if you want a specific artist or a longer session held, it's worth using book / walk in so we can set aside the chair.
More than tattoos
Plenty of Liberty Village clients come in for one thing and leave curious about another. Alongside tattoo work, we handle piercings — lobes, helix, nose, curated ear projects — with proper studio jewellery and aftercare. The barber side keeps the fades and beard trims sharp, and tooth gems are a quick, painless way to add a little sparkle. It's a genuinely useful stop when you're already coming across town.
On pricing, every tattoo and piercing is different, so we don't post one-size numbers — the honest answer is that a quick consult or a message through book will get you a real quote for your idea.
What to expect on the day
If you've never sat for a tattoo, here's the honest version. We start with a short consult — you show us the idea, we talk size, placement and how it'll age on that spot, and only then do we set up. Nothing gets started until you're comfortable with the plan and the quote. For a first-timer coming across from the Village, that conversation is usually the part that settles the nerves.
Piercings run the same way: we walk through jewellery options and aftercare before anything happens, so you leave knowing how to look after it. Because we're a full studio, hygiene and single-use setups are standard, not an upsell. If you want to see the calibre of work before you commit, spend a minute in the gallery or read up on our artists, then book or walk in whenever suits your schedule.
Nearby if you're exploring the west end
Coming from Liberty Village usually means you're already comfortable roaming the west side. Our Queen West block sits between a handful of neighbourhoods worth a wander: Trinity Bellwoods is a few minutes west, the Ossington strip is just beyond it, and Kensington Market and Chinatown are a short walk east. Make an afternoon of it — tattoo first, then food and browsing after.
Coming from Liberty Village? Good to know
How far is Yes Electric from Liberty Village?
We're at 499 Queen St W, a quick trip east from the Village — usually fifteen to twenty minutes by the 504 King streetcar plus a short walk, or a fast drive/ride along King or Queen. We are not a Liberty Village location; think of us as your nearby Queen West studio.
What's the easiest transit route?
Take the 504 King streetcar eastbound from the top of Liberty Village, ride toward the Spadina area, then walk a couple of blocks north to Queen. If you're already downtown, any Queen West streetcar drops you close.
Do I need an appointment or can I just walk in?
Both work. We take walk-ins every day, noon to midnight. For a specific artist, a longer session or a piercing curation, it's smart to book so we hold the chair.
How late are you open?
Noon to midnight, seven days a week — handy if you're stopping by after work or a Liberty Village dinner rather than racing an early close.
How much will my tattoo or piercing cost?
It depends on size, placement and detail, so we quote per idea rather than posting flat prices. Send your concept through book or come in for a free consult and we'll give you a straight number.
Do you do more than tattoos?
Yes — piercings, barber services and tooth gems are all under the same roof, so one trip from the Village can cover a few things.
Making the trip from Liberty Village?
