just up the strip —Tattoo Shop near Ossington

The Ossington strip and our studio sit on the same stretch of the west end - Yes Electric Tattoo is a short walk or a two-stop streetcar hop east of Ossington Avenue, at 499 Queen St W. We're open Noon to Midnight, seven days a week, and walk-ins are always welcome.

A short hop from the strip

Where Ossington meets Queen West, you're already pointed at us. From that corner it's a straight run east on Queen - about a fifteen-minute walk past Trinity Bellwoods, or a quick ride on the 501 Queen streetcar that runs 24 hours and stops every couple of blocks. Coming from the Dundas end of the strip instead? The 63 Ossington bus runs the length of the avenue and connects straight into both the 501 Queen and 505 Dundas streetcars, so the studio is only ever one easy transfer away.

It's an easy addition to a night out. People wrap up dinner or drinks on Ossington and walk over to us before we close at midnight, when almost every other shop in the city has long since locked up. Book ahead or walk in - the late hours are the whole point, built for a strip that only really wakes up after dark.

The Ossington vibe, and why it fits us

Ossington was named one of the world's coolest streets by Time Out, and it earned it. What was once a quiet stretch of Portuguese and Vietnamese family businesses became the west end's most concentrated run of chef-driven restaurants, natural-wine bars in converted garages, cocktail lounges with no sign but a number on the door, and live-music rooms like The Painted Lady. Bellwoods Brewery, Mamakas Taverna and a clutch of small galleries and print shops round out a strip that runs entirely on independent taste - much of it packed into just a few short blocks between Queen and Dundas.

That's our world too. The clients who come to us from Ossington tend to care about the details - clean line work, considered placement, a design that actually means something rather than something trendy. It's the same eye the strip's makers and restaurateurs bring to their own work, and it's how we like to tattoo. Meet the artists and browse the gallery to see whether the work lines up with what you're picturing before you commit.

Everything under one roof

Yes Electric is a full studio, so a trip over from Ossington can cover more than one thing:

  • Tattoos - custom fine line, black-and-grey, colour and lettering. See the styles we work in.
  • Piercings - a full ear-and-body menu with proper jewellery.
  • Tooth gems - the low-commitment sparkle that's everywhere on the strip right now.
  • Barber - fresh cut, same visit.

Late nights and walk-ins

Ossington is a night neighbourhood, and so are we. Being open until midnight every day means you can decide on a piece over a second drink and still get it done the same evening, instead of promising yourself you'll book it someday. Walk-ins are genuinely welcome - for smaller tattoos, piercings or tooth gems there's a real shot at same-day, while bigger custom work is best booked ahead so an artist can plan the design with you and set aside the time it deserves.

To be clear, we don't have a shop on Ossington itself, and we'd never pretend to. Our one studio is on Queen West at 499 Queen St W - minutes from the strip, not on it. Pricing is always quoted in person at a free consult rather than guessed at online, so you know exactly what a piece involves before anyone picks up a machine.

The rest of the west end

Ossington sits in the middle of Toronto's most walkable creative corridor. From our chair you're also a short trip from Trinity Bellwoods just to the east, Kensington Market and Chinatown a little further along Queen and Spadina, and Liberty Village to the southwest. Wherever you're coming from, it's the same easy trip to 499 Queen St W.

Coming from Ossington? Good to know

How do I get from the Ossington strip to Yes Electric?

Head to where Ossington meets Queen West and go east - about a fifteen-minute walk, or hop the 501 Queen streetcar for a couple of stops to 499 Queen St W, between Spadina and Bathurst.

Is there a Yes Electric on Ossington Avenue?

No. We have a single studio on Queen West at 499 Queen St W. The Ossington strip is just minutes away, which is why we see so many of its regulars.

Can I come after dinner or drinks on Ossington?

Yes - we're open Noon to Midnight, seven days a week, so a late walk-in works. Smaller tattoos, piercings and tooth gems can often be done same-night.

What transit connects Ossington to Queen West?

The 63 Ossington bus runs the length of the strip and connects to both the 501 Queen and 505 Dundas streetcars, so you're never more than a short ride from us.

Do I need an appointment?

Not for smaller work - walk-ins are welcome. For larger custom tattoos it helps to book ahead so your artist can prepare. Either way, pricing is quoted at a free consult, never guessed online.
